Spring into better weather with outdoor activities

It’s almost springtime in the Pacific Northwest, and that means warmer temperatures, lush greenery, a little more sunlight and the opportunities to get outside in your community. Blue Fern Homes has been building townhomes communities across the Seattle metro for years, and we recognize there’s something special about springtime in Shoreline—see how to spend your days outside with family and friends after staying inside the past few months.

Enjoy family-friendly parks

Shoreline takes great pride in the natural surroundings throughout the city, starting with the selection of city parks. With over 30 parks to choose from with different amenities and activities at each, all residents can find a way to enjoy their time outside in Shoreline. With playgrounds for the kids, picnic areas and reservable athletics fields and courts, start with Cromwell Park, Hamlin Park, Hillwood Park, Richmond Beach Community Park and Shoreline Park. Looking to get closer to nature? Boeing Creek Park, Innis Arden Reserve Park, North City Park, South Woods Park and Strandberg Reserve offer open space, wooded areas, water access and trails to explore. For a chance to let furry friends get some off-leash exercise, residents also have a few off-leash dog areas available for visit.

Stay active on area trails

For something a little more adventurous, there’s plenty of walking and hiking trails woven throughout town. Many of the city parks mentioned above include unpaved, yet well-maintained, trails in wooded areas. Additionally, the Interurban Trail provides 12 miles of paved surface for walking, jogging and biking. Cyclists—from amateur to expert—will appreciate how bike-friendly the city of Shoreline is. Completed in 2017, the Bicycle System Plan improved access and safety for cyclists around town by adding in needed bike lanes and signage.

Take in the sights at Puget Sound

Obviously, one of the biggest perks of living in Shoreline is access to Puget Sound. Enjoy breathtaking views, the fresh breeze and a unique coastal experience you can only find in this part of the country. Richmond Beach Saltwater Park is a wonderful, safe place for adults and children of all ages to experience the complex ecosystem of marine beaches.

Support local eateries with outdoor seating

We all know the very familiar feeling—when the sun is shining and temperatures begin to rise, it’s time to spend some time on your favorite restaurant or brewery’s patio. If you’re new to the area, be sure to try out all of the best outdoor dining options in Shoreline. Ridgecrest Public House, Hill’s Neighborhood Restaurant and The Greek Kitchen are all great options—but there’s many more to discover.
