Community Involvement

Blue Fern Homes strives to be more than just a company that builds homes. That is why our staff puts such careful consideration into selecting locations within the vibrant Seattle and Shoreline communities. And, it is what drives us to give back to our neighbors by supporting local non-profit organizations throughout the year.

In a time when our country and the world are facing unprecedented challenges, we renew this commitment to our community partners and commend the life-altering work they are doing to support those among us who need it most.

Through partnerships with Food Lifeline and Rainier Scholars, Blue Fern Homes helps provide better access to food and education throughout the Seattle area.

Food Lifeline

One in five children and one in eight people overall struggle with hunger in Western Washington and Food Lifeline has positioned itself on the frontlines in the battle against food insecurity.

This includes day-to-day coordination for the equivalent of 134,000 meals through 300 food banks, shelters and meal programs as well as tireless work into the root causes of hunger in our community. The latter means a commitment to public policy and advocacy to optimize government, community and business resources with a 10-year plan to end hunger in Western Washington.

In 2019, Food Lifeline marked 40th anniversary of working to end hunger in Seattle with 58 million pounds of food and 6.1 million total meals served.

Rainier Scholars

Rainier Scholars is a 12-year program that guides hard-working, low-income students of color along the path to college graduation. This is achieved through a comprehensive approach that includes intensive academic preparation, leadership development and personalized support.

More than 700 students have participated in Rainier Scholars and 99 percent were admitted to 4-year colleges and universities. Ninety-five percent received more than one offer.

As a local homebuilder, Blue Fern Homes feels a deep responsibility to support the community around us and commitment to sustainability. For more information about our community involvement efforts as well as statistics from these two wonderful organizations visit our website.

With the current pandemic, Blue Fern is taking careful steps to protect the health and safety of our customers and team members. We have intensified the cleaning protocol in our homes and offices, and we're limiting showings to private, in-person tours. Virtual home tours are always available, too.
