Blue Fern Homes was created with a shared passion for doing something that matters in the long run—like building high-quality townhomes and cultivating forward-thinking communities in the greater Seattle area. Part of that passion includes caring for the people and places in and around where we build, which is why we emphasize community involvement to our team members, partners and homeowners.
The Pacific Northwest Cure ALS Golf Classic was held on August 16, 2021. Blue Fern Homes had multiple team members participate in the scramble-style tournament at Bear Creek Country Club in Woodinville. After a beautiful day on the course, participants enjoyed a dinner with live music and bid on auction items—all to raise money for Augie’s Quest to Cure ALS, which focuses on finding potential treatments through funded scientific studies and research.
Blue Fern is a leader in the market of modern, new-construction townhomes—and Augie’s Quest is a nonprofit organization leading the efforts in the treatment and curing of ALS. Augie Nieto, a successful fitness industry mogul, was diagnosed with ALS in 2005. With guidance from researchers, medical experts and friends, he understood the biggest issue with ALS isn’t that it’s incurable—but that the disease lacked the support and research needed to find a cure. Thus began Augies’s Quest to Cure ALS, with the main purpose of raising the funds and awareness urgently needed to advance cutting-edge research, fast-track effective treatments and ultimately find a cure for this devastating disease.
After years of dedicated effort, the ALS Therapy Development Institute just outside Cambridge, Massachusetts announced the Augie’s Quest Translational Research Center at ALS TDI. This center honors past work and innovation in the fight for a cure while pursuing future research.
Donated funds have also helped boost ALS TDI’s Precision Medicine Program, the most comprehensive and longest running translational research study of the disease.
Augie and his team are so dedicated to their cause, which the Blue Fern team found so inspirational. That’s why we’ve supported Augie’s Quest to Cure ALS as a sponsor for years. Whether it’s participating in regional events or donating directly to causes, we’re proud to work with them and see all the progress they’ve made in their mission.
In 2021, Blue Fern and the Eddie and Jo Allison Smith Foundation were able to provide the funding to enroll 100 participants in the Precision Medicine Program.
